Every new business starts with a vision, an idea. Sometimes something that seems completely unachievable is the most attractive. Our founder tessahartmann1 did just that. She came up with the idea of using her husbands art artbyharti on swimwear.
Being based in The British Isles it was important to her that #HartiSWIM was developed as a completely sustainable brand. Believe us - it’s not that easy but it’s a responsibility we all must adhere to, to look after our precious planet.
After 18 months of development we sourced a wonderful fabric made from recycled plastic bottles from our oceans.
#HartiSWIM is a contemporary and dynamic, sustainable statement print collection of swimwear. We believe this is a great opportunity for us to tell an ocean focused story. By using recycled plastic from our oceans, we are addressing ocean pollution and at the same time making a statement about protecting the environment. By using this new sustainable fibre for our swimwear, allows our customers to play a role in solving the ever growing problem of ocean plastic. The fibre is made from bottles collected within 50 kilometers of coastlines in countries or areas that lack formal waste or recycling systems. This premuim fabric also features built in sun and chlorine protection, which we know is also really important to our customers. We all have a responsibility now and it’s important that we do our part for the next generation.

May I pass on an excellent exercise I was given by a Cognitive Behavioural Psychologist*? ♥️She asked me to bring in a photo of myself as a child and then she asked me to say all the negative feelings I had about myself to the photo-I couldn’t do it! ♥️So next time you’re criticising yourself or your appearance, imagine what you’d say to yourself as a little kid 👶.
*I saw a CBT psychologist for 4 months to help with clinical depression when I was 28 and found it incredibly helpful, in combination with with an SSRI🥰-those exercises have stood me in good stead during my illness.
♥️I do not, however, agree with CBT for Chronic Illnesses. All medical research shows that it can be enormously harmful for people with M.E and Lyme Disease etc. You cannot cure yourself from Multi Systemic Infectious Diseases with a positive attitude!!! ♥️

Bonjour ma belle-I just wanted you to know that you look seriously hot today! ♥️
♥️I know how hard it can be to feel good about your body and the way you look. ♥️
I spent years helping customers in the changing rooms of my boutiques and the one thing every customer had in common was insecurity about their bodies, hair, skin, teeth and facial features. ♥️
As a young woman going on acting auditions in LA and then London, I never felt perfect or beautiful or thin or sexy enough. ♥️
As a disabled woman on the ‘wrong side’ of 40, I struggle to feel positive about my body-I have muscle wasting on my legs and a pancake flat muscle wasted derrière. I have stretch marks and cellulite. ♥️
I dont have the energy for pin up glamour hair and make up anymore. ♥️
But last summer, I needed a free model and I just though F*** it-who cares if Im not ‘beach ready’ (which we all know is a complete male marketing construct anyway)♥️
Im going to put on this high cut bikini and get out there in front of the camera myself. ♥️
And do you know what? I love those photos! ♥️Im so glad I stopped worrying about all my imperfections and just faked the confidence I needed to do get into the water and strike a pose! I had a blast on the beach. So, repeat after me ‘I look hot today!’. Because, you do!

The collection encourages imperfections as Harti’s paintings are filled with blotches of colour, glazing streaks, because to be perfect is boring, artificial, and clinically robotic. We wanted to create a label that is inclusive in terms of its sizing, ageless and environmentally conscious.
We hope you will connect emotionally with the prints and the #Harti narrative of each pop art canvas, which will be reproduced on the swimwear.
